These paper sculptures and jewelry pieces are a meditation on the human capacity for care of the earth during climate crisis. The sculptures are tiny reflections of my contribution to caring for the environment, each one mimicking elements of plants and flowers I tend to in my home garden. The jewelry pieces do the same—wearable art that draws attention to the natural, to the beings that may, eventually, be lost in the Anthropocene. However, the pieces also provide a sense of hope and connection. Taking a cue from leaves—how they degrade, nourish—the Elm wood rounds, through the act of looking, call the viewer to remember to take care of their own natural spaces. Where the Elm round pieces remind, the paper jewelry calls the wearer to act, to nurture the earth and each other, through a physical connection to their own bodies and the paper.
